Lew Prince checked into the squadron as an AO1. He worked in Quality Assurance and made Chief during the 1977 deployment.
Lewis Carl Prince, 77, died Jan. 21, 2021, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1943, in Redlands, Calif., to Jean Prince and Zana Hager (Prince). He served in the United States Navy with honor, receiving four Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star, RVN Campaign Medal with Device, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He had a full life, acting and entertaining many, pouring into his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and leaving a legacy of discipline and love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Zana; his brother, Paul; and his wife, Stella.
He is survived by his sons, Lewis Prince Jr. of Blairsden, Calif., and Brandy Coker and his wife Amber of Siloam Springs; one daughter, Rhonda Edens of Bentonville; one brother, Roger Prince and his wife Glenda of Gravette; one sister, Ellen Lasater and her husband George of Auburn, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, at First Baptist Church in Decatur, with Pastor Justin White officiating. Graveside service is yet to be determined. Arrangements are by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville.
